Mound Builders Left Local Mark

Ed Lentz, of This Week Community News' As it Were column, has written a brief overview of Ohio's Native American's tradition of mound building.

"Although there has been recent evidence to suggest that Native Americans were building mounds about 4,000 to 5,000 years ago, mound building in the Ohio Country did not begin in earnest until about 1,000 years before the current era.

There is continuing debate and discussion about why all of this happened at this time."
